‘True ease in writing comes from art not chance, just as those move easiest who have learn’d to dance.’
Those lines from Alexander Pope’s essay on criticism, linked here to the poetry foundation’s full text of the poem, were inscribed on a thesaurus given to me when I was 20 by a fellow member of Junior Chamber Swords. He was about 26 and handsome like a Roman god – blonde curls, beautifully built, sexy like you wouldn’t believe and a wild sense of adventure – and that inscription on that book was telling me that time was awastin’. He is forever associated with those lines for me, and the Chapelle, Polunin, Hozier film reminded me.
Beautiful memories of the past and our loved ones who lived in it, full of cherished memories, indeed delighted and entertain our souls.
